Khaki's Story...
As you may have noticed, we have a lot of under-socialized cats in our facility - and a shortage of very outgoing/adoptable ones. Khaki is yet another that needs a lot of socializing by a patient hand. She does not like to be picked up, but responds just fine to gentle petting. We would love to see this girl (and all of the others) to come out of their shell and show their true personality. Khaki is a beautiful (and uncommon) cream and white female, she is under or at a year old, and is spayed and current on her vaccines. She tested negative for feline leukemia and aids. If you have any questions about volunteering or adopting, contact the shelter at 757-365-6318 or by email at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Khaki, a Windsor Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Windsor, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Windsor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Windsor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Windsor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Windsor paves the way for another one to be saved.
