My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dolce!
Lab Mix
DOB 12/31/2016

Dolce and all of her siblings (litter of 9!!!) were orphaned at 4 days old!!! Luckily they ended up at one of our sister shelters in TN and they contacted us to save them! All of the pups were brought to IL and were cared for by 4 very special foster homes. These foster homes acted as a momma dog by bottle feeding, getting puppies to potty, and socializing them for the past 8 weeks! Now, the puppies are ready to find their forever families!

This very spirited little lady would make a wonderful companion! Dolce would be a great addition to a home where her curiosity and diligence would be put to good use. She would thrive best in an environment with a lot of action and activity. Or an environment where she had a job or responsibility. At the end of a full day she loves to wind down with a treat and a good toy to chew on.

Dolce is crate trained, and potty training is underway. Dolce loves to play with the big (adult) dog in her foster home, and is learning a lot from him everyday. She has not had any experience with cats. She loves to play with kids and gives lot's of sneaky kisses! This sweet pup would make a wonderful addition to any loving home.

Dolce would benefit from a family who is around most of the day as she has just begun her housebreaking training. She will need consistency and benefit from a schedule for eating, pottying, and getting socialization.

Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.

Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
