My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(Unavailable)
Poppy is a blind 8 year old Lhasa Apso Poodle mix whose owner surrendered him to the shelter. Despite the extreme neglect he has suffered in his life, he is so incredibly loving. He is a very sweet, affectionate, and well mannered guy. Poppy absolutely loves to snuggle and will thank you for belly rubs with kisses. He loves to follow his foster family around the house when he's not relaxing on his favorite fleece blanket.

Being blind hasn't set Poppy back one bit. Once he learns the lay of the land in a new place, he gets around just fine. He does get startled if people or other pets sneak up on him unexpectedly, but as long as you talk to him before you touch him he's totally comfortable.

Poppy had to have one of his eyes removed due to severe neglect as it was crusted over and had a large scratch on the cornea. He is blind and will be on eye drops for the rest of his life to treat chronic dry eye. Poppy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. He recently had a dental cleaning done and had a few front teeth removed. He also had a small growth removed from his backside which has completely healed.

Poppy gets along with other dogs and will get along with cats who are familiar with dogs. He doesn't do well with children because they tend to startle him as he can't see them coming. Poppy is waiting to meet his forever family who will give him the unconditional love he deserves.

Poppy hasn't had any accidents in his foster home but may need work on house training in a new environment.

Poppy has an adoption fee of $450

**IMPORTANT DETAILS - PLEASE READ**

An application must be filled out before consideration for adoption. Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to commit a lifetime to him/her. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit group of animal lovers. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to pay our current medical bills for our dogs as well as any future dogs we rescue as well.

As an adopter, you must be prepared to accept the fact that these dogs are rescues and, just like you and I, they all have their own individual personalities. In most cases, these little ones have been through a difficult journey that started when their family gave them up or they became lost. They may have been under stress, neglected or even abused in their past life or frightened by being left alone on the streets to fend for themselves.

Our number one focus is finding these little loves a wonderful forever home with a family who is going to care for them and show them what it is like to be loved, a safe environment, a full belly and a warm bed. These sweet babies do not ask for much from you but they may require a little patience and understanding.

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to come look at a dog We will contact you once we have received and reviewed your completed application. A Home visit as well as a reference check MUST be completed before a meet & greet can be scheduled. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
