MEET TUCKER -
At 6 years old and 14 lbs, this Smooth, Red male Dachshund is a loving, loyal
little man sure to steal your heart and your covers! He loves nothing better than to cuddle with you and tuck himself in under the blankets. Sadly, little Tucker has had a bit of a rough life so far and has had to learn to make it in this world without a lot of love and support, so he isn't very social around other animals, children or large crowds. He does do well on walks and just wants to be with his family. Chief volunteer, Jenell is working with Tucker on his social skills and is taking him to have his dental next Friday, so he should be all ready for his forever family soon!
Because of his previous experience,TUCKER will do best as the only child in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) where he can receive all your love and affections and he can give you all of his, which is all he really wants to do anyway.
Like all Dachshunds, TUCKER enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, TUCKER needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
