My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAX: 1 Year Old AKC Black Lab Purebred Neutered Male 70 Pounds

"Max is one terrific dog" so says his foster family. Well mannered, easy going and a joy to be around. He is energetic as a young Lab should be and quite a handsome AKC purebred Lab. His owner has had him since he was a puppy and now must move to an apartment that doesn't take dogs. He has been very well cared for and loved. It was with much reluctance and sadness that she called Lab Rescue to see if we could help find this good boy a new home. He was raised with a (now) 10 year old boy. We went to evaluate this guy who is full of joy and life and knew that we could find him a wonderful forever home.

From Max's Foster Mom:
Max is being fostered on a ranch and settling in very well. He did not react to the horses. He is good with the cats. He wants to chase the one that runs but if the cat doesn't run, he is not too interested. Max rides nicely in the car. He plays well with our big male Lab. He has not had any accidents in the house since arriving. Max is very good when we crate him and sleeps soundly through the night. He is an alert barker and a good watch dog. When we arrived home the other night he didn't want to let us in. When we called his name and he saw that it was us he was happy and let us in!

From Max's Rescue Rep:
Max is an adorable young boy. He is described by his previous owner as fun, energetic and loving. He hasn't had a lot of exposure to other dogs though he is described as friendly and playful which was certainly the case when he met the foster's Lab. When he was born he was born breech so mom nibbled off of his right rear paw most likely to assist with the birth. It doesn't impact him in any way. He walks just fine and is a really fast runner. He may have this one "imperfection" but he is the perfect dog in so many other ways. He is not a jumper and does not resource guard food or toys. We are told he likes to swim and he lives up to his breed as he loves to retrieve the ball. He is good with humans, dogs and cats! Max could use basic obedience classes and leash training. Because he is a young dog and on the go, barely out of puppyhood, any kids in the home should be 5 or older. He is used to being alone for 8 hours a day as an outdoor dog so Lab Rescue wants someone who is around most of the day to make him part of the pack as he is striving on the structure and guidance that he has been receiving in his foster home.

Health: Max is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Max is located in Livermore.

If you are looking for an active young dog, are around a good part of the day and have the time, energy and commitment to provide the leadership, exercise and training that a young pup needs, please call Rescue Rep Sandy at 650-303-2436. Please leave good days/time to call back.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
