My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHOMPER is a 1.5 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 71 pounds. Chomper was found wandering around with a Beagle but they were not bonded, just traveling buddies. Chomper is a big, friendly boy that loves to get toys and offer them to you. He gets along with everybody and is a bit submissive with people. Chomper enjoys being rubbed and petted. He is great with other dogs. From the vet: Nice guy! He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: No Fence Required

Update: Poor Chomper has been terribly wronged by such a name! He can't wait to get a forever family and hopefully, a new name! This boy is incredibly sweet. He charmed folks at the adoption event with his intelligence and manners. He knows sit and down, and will shake BOTH paws! Sometimes he'll try to give them both to you at the same time, but to be fair, he LOVES treats and thinks that will get him the treats faster! He loves squeaky toys, is excellent on leash and loves to go for walks. He's also a champion tennis ball catcher. He seems unfazed by squirrels, but is strangely afraid of ducks. He loves attention and belly rubs are his absolute favorite!

Update: Chomper arrived in his foster home this morning and is getting along well with the resident lab. He's a big, strong boy who will need a training addendum, but he responds well to correction. He likes to give kisses and walks pretty well with an Easy Walk harness.

This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. Within a few days of submitting an application you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
