Peanut's Story...
Peanut has been in our shelter for over a year! Show this striking boy some love! Peanut has an amazing toy drive, and is really digging this ball that was donated yesterday! He is so ready to find his forever home, so don't hesitate on meeting this boy! Here is another long time resident, why we have no idea! At one point he was in a foster home where the fosters reported that he did wonderful in the car, was 100% potty traned and knows the basic command of sit, down and stay quite well! While with the fosters they noted he did great with crate training too! He was not a huge fan of the fosters other dogs, and does appear to know who he wants to be friends with. He does fine on a leash and has been great around kids and in large group settings. Peanut is up to date on all shots, Rabies neutered and is Heartworm Negative. If you are interested in shceduling a meet and greet with your dogs or have questions about Peanut please contact the shelter at 757-365-6318 or

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut, a Windsor Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Windsor, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Windsor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Windsor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Windsor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Windsor paves the way for another one to be saved.
