Gentle Suzie was dumped near a church in rural Arkansas with no identification, just seemingly having had a litter of pups not long ago, bewildered as to which way to go, where to turn. One of our volunteers tried to get her to safety, and when she bent down to call her over, Suzie almost smiled, her soft ears laying down flat, her little stub-tail wagging as if asking permission to come. And when she got into the car, you could almost feel her sigh of relief, and then she went to sleep.
Suzie is now at the shelter we like to call the "Group Home". She entered the general population of dogs respectfully and very friendly to everyone. She knows her place as a newcomer, and has no intention of ever rocking the boat. She seems to have lots of patience with puppies, grumpier dogs, and even waiting her turn for food or treats. She only jumps in your lap if invited but once there, she will hug and kiss, or sleep there while you pet her. She loves to be near people and cannot get enough petting -- she loves the gentle touch. She's dainty with her food, loves affection and would do well in a loving home that will keep her safe forever. We have no idea what her true mix is, but she is about 1 - 2 years old, she weighs about 30 pounds and is a very healthy girl.
