Fern's Story...
There's a super sweetie waiting for you to come and take her to your home forever and ever. Fern is an absolutely adorable Beagle with a tricolor coat of tan, black, a couple splashes of white and, of course, the cutie patootie freckled legs which just adds even more sparkle to her when she dances to greet you. She was born Feb. 2015 and weighs approx. 20 pounds. She loves attention from any age and is good with other dogs. She came in with her friend, Iris and if you're looking for double loving and triple the fun, these two would be a great match for you.

To see Fern by APPOINTMENT ONLY, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. An adoption counselor will contact you--typically within three business days--to discuss with you the type of dog you are looking for and to see whether we have a good match for you. Our counselor will discuss the next steps afterward.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fern, a Fairfax Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
