My name is Koda, I was born into deplorable conditions but thankfully was saved when HSI came into to rescue me and all the other animals. For 18 months we were held as the investigation turned into charges and to the courts we went.
CAA Rescue heard about my story through one of her volunteers and when the news came down that I along with other dogs and cats from the seizure case could finally be released they could not have been more happy.
I finally joined CAA Rescue in foster care and BOY oh BOY that was a huge change for me.
Now I am in a loving home with walks and other doggies to play with and a comfy bed to sleep on! All of this is so new to me…. It took me a couple of days to realize that this was what life was like for me now.
At first I shied away and was nervous about all these new things but my foster dad is awesome and very patient. He takes me for walks in a market so that I can learn to meet new people and be in new unfamiliar places. He builds my confidence with positive reinforcement.
He takes me on hikes in the woods in the deep snow.
He gave me my own bed which I did use but now prefer to snuggle with him
So while I still have so much to learn about this world and all the new things I have yet to discover, my foster dad has worked really hard to give me a good and solid base foundation to help me grow into the positive canine citizen I know I want to be.
I may be 3 years old but I am just a full grown 60lbs baby boy! I am pretty quiet though in foster care, quiet like a mouse! My foster dad says that I barely ever bark.
I am dog friendly and show no signs of possession or aggression since joining my foster dad in CAA Rescue.
I have not been with any cats with my foster dad but the place I first lived in did have many cats as well as many dogs, some were loose, some were tied up inside and outside. Hard to know how I would respond but I do not show any signs of prey drive so it is possible that if your cats are doggie savvy that they could learn to love me and me in turn with them
I have not been tested around any children but I am pretty gentle so I think I would be ok with one occasionally visiting the home rather than living with one full time. Would just have to be careful that I do not get too excited and accidently knock a little one over, because I would hate to do something like that so I will need my guardians to be extra special watchful of me
I just have so much to learn and really need someone who wants to invest their life in me because I, in turn, would REALLY for the first time in my life like to have a Best Friend for all my days. Someone to commit to me and to work with me showing me all the beauty this world has to offer now that I am coming out of my shell, I am looking forward to many new adventures!
I am medium energy level dog, I like to snooze and take afternoon naps but I also do like to get out and have fun running and playing!
I am house trained and do, do my business outside, although a change in homes and routines could upset this balance so my new family has to expect this during my adjustment period into their home.
I have been left alone while in foster care with no signs of separation anxiety or destruction, of course I did have the other dogs in the home to keep me company.
With my adoption CAA Rescue will offer one free hour consultation and training session with certified trainer Scott Travers from Solutions Top Dog Training providing you are within 40 km of Montreal; any distances over 40 km there is a required $20 transport fee.

If you would like to meet Koda at his foster home in Lachute please write to CAARescue@gmail.com we will ask you to complete an adoption application so that we can learn a little more about you and if you are a perfect fit for Koda we will make arrangements for you to meet him for potential adoption

A 3-Step process to adopt one of our foster dogs.
1. Fill the adoption form. It might seem long, but it’s the best way to find the right dog for you and your family!
2. We’ll arrange a meeting with the foster family of the dog you want to meet so you can see if s/he’s the right one for you.
3. If you decide to move forward, you’ll be asked to agree to a home visit, fill-in and sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.

Breed: originally listed as a Leonberger Mix but we are unsure of his mix breed possibilities

Anxiety: no anxiety to note at this time
Vet History: health check base vaccinated, rabies vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, micro chip. Approximately 60 lbs
