Here's what the humans have to say about me:
LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOME OR ADOPTER
Hi. My name is Rachel, and I am in search of my perfect fit of a human or family. You see, I have been let down over and over again. I was one of three sisters that were dumped at a rural high kill shelter. My sisters, Phoebe and Monica, have been adopted now, and I am awaiting my turn. Because I am a beautiful dog, many say that they want to adopt me, but I need more than a person that likes to look at how pretty I am. I am looking for a human that knows that every relationship is a work in progress, and because of my harsh start to life, I have some trust and confidence issues.
While I want love, I also need a strong leader. I get nervous in new situations, meeting new dogs and people, but if my human helps me with slow introductions, I do great once I know that new people coming into my house and other dogs are not going to cause me or my human harm. That is probably why I love kids so much....I feel like I can trust them from the start. My forever human will be able to provide structure and consistency and be my advocate by not throwing me into situations that I am uncomfortable in.
I walk well on leash, and I do sit and shake....in fact, I do love to use by paws to communicate. I am not a fan of the crate...at all. My ideal home would probably be someone who is a home body, where I can lay contently by their side, go on walks or runs, or lay by their feet while they work from home. I would make an excellent constant companion for someone that desires that closeness. Because I can be protective over my human and my human's home, I wouldn't fit in well with a social butterfly that likes to have lots of new people coming to the house all the time. Some steady friends coming over is fine....in fact, I actually love humans...just need to be comfortable with them first.
I am searching for my forever family...one that will accept and love me, and help me be the best dog I can be with something that I haven't had in my young life...security. They say that anything worthwhile is worth the wait.....I am waiting...are you the family I am destined to be with? Will you find me soon?
Rachel is a lab mix, estimated DOB is 10/3/15 and weighs 60 pounds. She has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.
