My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Adoption Pending***

PUCA - Female, Lab/Hound mix, 10 yrs, 40 lbs approx.

***My name is Puca….I’m a senior girl but still frisky! Can you believe I have never had my own home in my whole life? Some nice people from Pets Alive came to the crowded shelter in Mexico where I had been living and said they’d bring me back to Canada and someone there would want me…wow, was I excited to hear that! My own family to love me..my own bed, even a yard maybe! I packed my bags and have been on my best behavior with my foster family. They love me..they say I’m very well behaved. The nice lady works from home and I greet all her clients and they all tell me I’m gentle and friendly and sweet. I’m really trying to be good so that I’ll get a home to call my own. My foster family are going away in December and they say they can’t take me…I’m so worried!! Where will I go? Will I have a home then? Won’t someone come meet me and take me home? I really would like to be in a home with no other pets....please….!!***

Puca is a very sweet and friendly senior dog from a rescue organization in Mexico. She lived
there her whole life, rescued from the streets at just 4 months old, so we are hoping to find her a family of her own to enjoy her golden years.
Puca is 10 years old but still has lots of energy to run around the yard and her favourite thing in
the world is going for walks. She wins the hearts of everyone she meets around town.
Puca must be the only dog in her household as she was always leader of her pack in Mexico
and tends to bully other dogs which is dangerous for her at her age. We recommend a home
with no small animals that run free as most street dogs have a high prey drive and no young
children as she needs gentle handling and can get startled easily when resting.
She has typical health concerns for her age - she is on a kidney support diet and is taking a
glucosamine supplement and an inexpensive pain control medication. She has also been
receiving massages from Canine Massage Therapy by Carlea Bovine RMT, CMT - with all this
care she has become much more spunky and energetic.
Puca loves every person she meets and quickly forms a bond so she will transition easily into a
new home. Puca is housebroken and has also been crate trained and is receiving behavioural
based training through Lokal K9, a canine behaviour consultant and trainer in St. Catharines.
Puca comes with a donated lifetime behaviour package from Lokal K9 who can provide
instruction in your home to ease Pucas transition and address any behavioural or training
concerns.

From Puca's foster mom: "Puca is very sweet and affectionate. She loves walks but equally loves to be a couch potato. She gets very excited when her people get home! For a senior dog she does have good energy with running the yard and walking and she loves her treats. Otherwise she is a low energy dog in the house and loves to nap on the couch. This girl is very sweet and deserves to have a home for once in her life."
