My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOOKING FOR A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!
CHARLOTTE - Female, Shepherd/Lab mix, 1 yr, 48 lbs.

Hi, my name is Charlotte and I arrived in Canada from a place far, far away. Everything here is so different from where I came from; the sights, the sounds, the people, the dogs. It has been very overwhelming for me and I have had a hard time adjusting to my new life. I have met some great people that I have learned to trust and I’m wonderful with them! But I do still get nervous of new people and new situations and my way to let you know I’m uncomfortable is to growl. I am not mean, I’m a very loving girl! But I am very scared.
I am looking for a foster or forever home that can give me the time and love I need to blossom! It doesn’t take me long to become comfortable with my people, but I need someone who will give me space and let me come to them in my own time.
I need a home with no kids as they may startle me. I’m ok with calm dogs but as I'm so fearful right now I do need a home with no other dogs.
I am looking for a family who can be patient with me. New people are scary and once your home is my safe space new people coming in make me feel very anxious. This will improve with time, but I need my new foster or forever family to avoid having visitors over for the first few weeks until I’m feeling more confident!
I will make your backyard my safe space and love playing outdoors! But the street is new and has so many smells. For the first few weeks I would prefer to spend my time on your property. As I become comfortable and confident, I would be happy to go on short walks with you!
Once I’m comfortable I’m the sweetest girl! I love cuddling and playing with you! I’m house trained and low-medium energy. I love to swim and I’m good in the car! I’m very intelligent and can respond to basic commands, I know my name and come when it is called. I am very treat driven and love chew toys! I’m a beautiful girl with the softest fur and I can’t wait to find the family who will bring me out of my shell and show me the good life!

Charlotte was found, together with her brothers and sisters, in the “kunuku” (woods) at a few weeks of age and was bottle fed. She was living at a shelter in Curacao until she came to Canada to find her forever family!
