My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Her prior owner may have called her Moretta, but she should be renamed Persistence! This sweet cat is small in stature but she is the epitome of strength. At her first home her tail was pulled very hard and her spine (near the base of her tail) was broken. But this old injury can't keep this amazing girl down! She has full use of her tail, which she wags happily like a dog when you talk to her. She does have a slightly wonky walk and run but it doesn't hold her back and the vet said she was very lucky that it healed well. She jumps up on foster mom's bed to cuddle and she will race straight up the stairs should she be on the hunt for a dreaded fly who has found its way into the house. (And she won't stop until it's gone.) Moretta comes when called and meets you at the front door when you arrive home. She has no bad habits. She has good litter box skills, no counter surfing, she uses her scratching posts exclusively. She is wonderful with our other foster cat and would be very happy to have a companion. They chase, wrestle and cuddle. And within days of fostering she had already befriended our old dachshund and they like to sleep together in the playpen. The dog even taught her how to cover herself with blankets. She is fascinated by the outdoors and likes to perch in a window seat in order to watch what's going on outside. She is a moderately active cat. She enjoys chasing toys but is also very happy to take a nap in a sunny spot. She was a little slow to warm-up and feel comfortable with people but she endured a tremendous amount at her old home and in a New York City shelter and I expect she will settle into her permanent home quickly. She would make an amazing pet for older kids (who understand tails cannot be pulled), families with cats (or not), families with calmer or smaller dogs. She could also be a great senior pet friend. Any way you look at it she's a great cat. Moretta was born around 11/20/14.
