I'll tell you how I got my name in a minute. First, here's my backstory: Miami's kill shelter picked me up on the swale of a road where I'd sat frozen for 2-3 days. Once in the 'shelter' (which really isn't it's Treblinka) I was listed to be killed immediately if a rescue didn't pull me for 'being incontinent, grossly overweight and unable to walk.' A rescue group wanted and committed to me and since I had to be picked up IMMEDIATELY to not be killed mom pulled me for them. She took me straight to her vet the next day and I wasn't incontinent I just peed on myself too afraid to move after being dumped on a scary road! (I am overweight and mom's hypothesis is I was owned by a little old lady who gave me too much food thinking it was an act of love who died and her family simply dumped me vs. take me in and love me.) I probably have what's called luxating patella in my back kneecaps but I can walk! Because I'm still overweight (I don't overeat but I'm not very active I'm 10-years old now) here's how I came to be named Mr. Waddles: I walk like a Muscovy duck! I love my name tho and I answer to it (and a multitude of others: plain old 'Waddles'; 'Little Man'; 'Fat Man'; etc. Mom also calls me her 'bowling ball.') I live for attention and treats (mom's careful not to give me more than 1-2 max a day) and to be near you. I am quiet and sedate, content to sit or nap near you and I don't ask for nor require much. I'd love someone whether older or just a quiet lifestyle who just wants a companion like me. Because of my 'roundness' I can be hard to pick up so it should be someone with upper body strength in the event they needed to take me to the vet or want me to sleep on the bed with them for instance. I sleep on mom's bed now but Cookie hogs her so I sleep in the corner beneath the ceiling fan that's my favorite spot. And I sleep all night long I don't wake up and need to go outside or anything. When I want attention I will give mom a little bark to let her know, and I play gently with a few of the others who'll be patient and gentle with me. (Noodles especially plays with me which is odd given he's still very young and energetic but gentle and non-demanding with me.) I know I'm not what a family with kids is looking for ... I'm more the kind of guy someone might seek who just wants a good companion to sit by their side and adore them. That's me - I'm great at adoring you! Mom realizes I'll be hard to adopt but she's hopeful someone's out there who thinks I'm cute and worth it. You see, that rescue group reneged on accepting me after mom pulled me on their behalf. Since mom's commitment is 100% for any animal in her care I then became her responsibility. She has many fosters and can't save more 'til we get adopted and there are so many in need in both the kill shelter and on the streets like where I wound up. So I'd really like to help by finding my forever home. So if you like mom have a heart for slightly older kids who need a little extra care as we enter our senior years with maybe not the perfect athletic body we had when young might I be the kind of guy you could love?

About Boo's Brigade

About Our Rescue Group...

I founded Boo's Brigade to rescue after one of my rescued fosters who never got adopted died of cancer. I continue rescuing in his memory and honor. I rescue one or two at a time from the streets and Redlands (farm land) where people dump pets, and from Miami's horrendous kill shelter because our mayor Carlos Gimenez refuses to fund The Pet's Trust we passed with 65% voter approval in 2012. The trust would fund 120,000 Spay/Neuter surgeries annually for 5-years along with low cost clinics, transportation, education, meaningful grants to no kill rescues doing the back breaking work the kill shelter and mayor should be doing and aren't. Instead the kill shelter director Alex Munoz lies claiming he's achieved 93% 'no kill' when he fudges numbers by REFUSING pets shelter entry causing people to dump pets outside. We have hundreds of stray dogs and tens of thousands (estimated more than half a million) homeless cats suffering from exposure, hunger, disease, cars, attacks by other animals, being used as bait animals, poison, guns, torture - Miami, FL is a 3rd world environment for animals. Even majestic horses are stolen and carved up fully alive and conscious by heinous criminals and purchased by just as evil people for consumption. I do what I can as one individual to alleviate animals' suffering and educate to the great need we have for lifelong commitments to pets and to adopt, NOT perpetuate the agony and abuse puppy mill dogs live when people purchase from pet stores and breeders. ADOPT - DON'T SHOP. We need so much help in Miami, FL. Please look at all the rescues operating here on Adopt A Pet and on Face Book! We have hundreds of pets with hundreds more waiting their turn to be saved but we need adoptions to have room for them. Thank you.
