Sable and her sister Mink came to Chicago prepared for this cold weather, with their thick winter coats! Sable has a soft, plush, black coat and appears to be a mix of a large breed dog--maybe Newfoundland--and lab. Whatever the mix, she will most likely be over 70 pounds when fully grown. She already weighs 34 pounds, at just 16 weeks of age. Only those willing to take pot luck in terms of what breed and size she grows to be, should apply!
Sable's foster home has this to say about her: "Sweet. Playful. Friendly. Loves every person or dog that she meets. Plays outside with my dogs or their toys for as long as I let her--loves being outside. Very gentle with kids and I bet any other animal as well. Needs a big space and yard, or trips to the dog beach or park, plus ideally another four-legged friend to play with. A bit more out-going than her sister Mink, but same calm personality. Uses the doggy door and has been doing her business outside, with just a few accidents. Doesn't bark. Enjoys being right there with us when we're sitting by the fire, watching a show or playing a game. Sleeps all night, on a couch next to her sister. Very chill for a 4 month old puppy!"
Because Sable is still a puppy she needs a family where someone is home part or all of the day, to keep her on a potty schedule and continue with her socialization. We think Sable would enjoy having another dog and/or children to play with her, because she is used to having her sister as a built-in playmate. She would be fine with young kids because she is very gentle and calm.

Sable's adoption fee of $350 includes routine vet exam, DAPP distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, routine deworming, microchip and spay.
