My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocky: ~10 year old neutered male chocolate Lab, ~ 78 pounds

You won't find this elegant gentleman on e-Harmony, but he's the perfect match for just about any family! Rocky is a super sweet chocolate Lab who gets along great with everyone from kids to senior citizens. He loves a good walk, and will help you out by holding his leash in his mouth. He doesn't need miles of jogging each day, a couple of 20 minute walks to smell the flowers will make him more than happy, and keep him fit and trim. He's fine with other dogs, pretty indifferent to cats and chickens, and will be as happy hanging out with retirees or older kids (age 8 and up, because Rocky is a tall boy!). He has the silkiest most beautiful chocolate coat, just right for getting lots of pets! He does have a few lumps and bumps so we had the vet give him a onceover, and they are likely fatty tumors, which are not a problem and very common in older Labs.

Rocky was adopted once but it didn’t work out, so he’s now available again.

Here’s what his adopter had to say about him:

Rocky is an amazing dog and has been such a great addition to our family. We've fallen into a wonderful routine and he is just so easygoing and wonderful to be with. He walks perfectly on his leash AND hikes well off leash (and LOVES that activity), is very responsive when we call him and eager to please. He loves being with people (and loving on people and getting loved on) but will also just hang in his bed when we aren't paying attention to him. All of our friends are obsessed with him and can't believe how lucky we are to have him. Rocky is SUCH a special dog and he deserves the best.

Rocky came to us from the San Jose shelter, and we can’t figure out why his original owner didn’t beat the doors down to find this wonderful boy. He seems to be a family dog; when I took him from the shelter to his foster home, he was immediately drawn to the foster’s two granddaughters.
The ideal home for Rocky is one where he gets the moderate amount of exercise he needs to stay fit, and has plenty of time to hang around with him. He’s a wonderful companion dog, and just wants to be where you are. He’s great with kids but is not comfortable with babies, so he should go to a home that does not have very young children (age 6 and up would be best). Rocky would be a great companion for a retired person or couple or a family.

Rocky is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm free and on preventive, and micro-chipped. Rocky is located in Saratoga.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
