My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOOK AT THIS HANDSOME FACE!!!! This is Bubba, and we've been asked to help find him a home. He's already neutered and vaccinated and he's ready to go home! Bubba is being fostered in Oakland, and if you'd like to meet him, we'd love to help set that up!

HI!
My name is Bubba. I'm a neutered boy and my doctor thinks I'm about 3 years old. I weigh 65 pounds right now, but I'm a little bit skinny and my foster parent thinks I should weigh around 70-75 pounds. I'm very muscular, and as strangers have told me, the most handsome pittie they've ever seen!

My favorite foods are Orijen dog food, dried pig ears, or peanut butter biscuit cookies, but I know that my parent's food is not mine to eat! My parent calls me the gentle giant because I'm very good at taking food from their hand and have never growled at them for taking away my food or being near me while I eat.

My perfect day would be right by your side the whole time, with a long walk somewhere in between. Being the gentle giant, my personality is best described as "eager to please" and "submissive". I'm the biggest lover you could ever meet, and whatever you bring me along to do, I'll be happy to accompany you.

Right now the only trick I've learned is how to sit, and am working on learning to how to stay. I currently live in a city, but I think I'd be much more happy if I lived in a suburb where it's more quiet and easy going. I would love a backyard to run around in.

My foster parent has not seen me interact with kids, but I think that I would prefer being an only child because of my tentative personality. My previous foster family said that I've been around a cat before, but it took some getting used to. My current foster parent doesn't know exactly how I react to cats in a controlled calm setting. Dogs and I are still a bit fuzzy. I love to whine and pull to go towards other dogs when I'm walking down the street, but in a few instances I've gotten more assertive and I let out a threatening bark. Maybe in a calm and controlled setting with a professional it could be determined how exactly I am with other dogs.

I definitely have some work to do with my anxiety, but my foster guardian has been working tirelessly to remind me that they will always come back for me- and it's starting to work! My health was deemed adoptable by the shelter I was rescued from, and my doctor's appointment in a week will give me all the info I need to know about my health!

I am crate trained and love sleeping in my crate, as well as on my parent's bed (when they let me) at night. I am very good when walking on leash, at first I had an issue with pulling too hard, but since practicing walking on a gentle leader, my pulling has become almost nonexistent. My only flaws are that I have separation anxiety, and that I also have less trust in men. I'm not too bad, though. If a man let's me walk up to him and he ignores me, I won't even make a peep... My parent suspects that if I have time to get to know the man and I'm in a calm setting, that I could very well learn to trust him.

Besides my trainable separation anxiety and distrust in men, I really am the best boy you could ever ask for! I am potty trained as well!

My favorite thing about my foster parent is their unconditional love and consistent training they have given me. I love stability and I love attention!

If you'd like to get in touch with my foster parent, you can send them an email at sabrinaedelen@yahoo.com and they would love to talk to you about me! I'm a pretty special guy and they wish they could keep me themselves, but they know I deserve a better and more free life than an apartment. Please give me the forever home I've always dreamt of!
