Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Grover is a new arrival (as of 3-12-17), having been rescued from an animal shelter where he was impounded after having been hit by a car. Fortunately his injuries were superficial abrasions. He was unclaimed by his owner and was made available for adoption, but Grover was terrified to be walked on leash, and very flighty in general, so the shelter suggested that we take him. We are finding him quite delightful. He haltingly walked for us on leash in 5 minutes, and we paired him with another (neutered male!) dog, whom he now appears to look to for confidence. Usually dogs that are so shut down in shelters - at least in our breed - are dogs that have enjoyed the company of dogs more confident than themselves, so when they're suddenly alone, they're terrified. Grover has made no attempts to growl or snap at us, and he ate well immediately upon arrival, which indicates to us that he isn't feeling stressed now.
