Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We do not adopt dogs from phone calls or emails. Please do not fill in adoption forms anywhere else, but on OUR web site. Thanks for that.
To start our adoption process, please fill out our form on our web site at: www.spokanewienerdogs.org and see the Adopt a Dog/Fee page with more details on how we adopt our dogs. There are a lot of questions answered on our web site and personality details below about each dog BELOW so please READ BEFORE getting in touch. We already answer 500+ emails a day. We do answer questions on dogs once our adoption paperwork is filled in so we can match to the right homes.
Please indicate which dog you are interested in on our adoption form. If their name says "pending home" then they are not available and are on a test drive with a new family. We do remove our dogs when our adoptions are final so please do not ask us if dogs are available if you see their ads.
There is an adoption fee of $350 for this dog.
Ransom went to a shelter but needs more training in his new home so he came to us for more work before placement. He will bite when scared or hit. He acts like a past abuse case from all the evaluations we have done. We never hit dogs to train them especially in this one when they are always smart enough to fight back when abused.
We suggest an adult home that is ore quiet for Ransom. He is not biting us but we also do not force ourselves on dogs when they get here. We also know how to pick them up correctly without hurting the dachshunds, etc. We are working on getting him socialized with all our volunteer wiener huggers who are here constantly.
He will not be available for adoption until the end of April t the earliest but we want a pending home once he is done in his training. We will also choose the right home for him so they will continue working with him and his training. I suggest someone close so they can come meet him several times before taking him home plus bring their dogs so they all get along. I will not be able to adopt him long distance for this one in case he is not happy in his new home and will need to come back.
As we know more we will post updates but it usually takes a month or two for dogs to not be so scared so less biting in this breed. And we have the knowledge to retrain them and screen homes to fit the dogs well.
Handsome Ransom is already asking to go outside for messes and back inside so far, so very housebroke, as dachshunds can be in life. They are too smart to make messes outside unless folks watch them make messes outside in the bad weather. This is an amazingly smart dog and easy to work him when he catches on quick.
So if you are interested in this handsome Ransom please follow directions on how we adopt above. He is settling in nicely here when he is charming, happy, likes the other dogs once introduced, etc. So I can see him fitting into a new home nicely if folks speak wiener. He will not go to someone who does not know this breed.
