Handsome Jax is one good looking fellow – it’s hard to guess what his blend is – he has a sleek frame like a Doberman, but the coloring of a black lab. He also reminds me a bit of a “mini- Great Dane." He has long legs like a Great Dane (but he is not nearly that big!) and a long snout maybe more like a Doberman Pinscher.
And to make it even more confusing, I think he looks almost exactly like a Pharaoh Hound, but the coloring isn't right for a Pharaoh Hound. However, he doesn't bark --he has a hound's howl!
I met someone when I was out walking with Jax and she told me he looked like a Formosan Mountain Dog. They are described as friendly, sociable, intelligent and lively. They enjoy human companionship and thrive on close bonds with humans. They are considered quite active and need lots of exercise to stay happy. They may not be the perfect apartment dogs. Formosans are eager to please and therefore pretty easy to train. They tend to be obedient and are loving and affectionate. The Formosan is a highly active and intelligent dog that is rather easy to train. It is also quite affectionate and forms strong bonds with its human family. Formosans typically get along well with kids and other dogs; however, they do not interact well with such pets as cats, rabbits, rodents and birds.
Whatever Jax is, he is a very cool dog, very unusual, and unusually handsome.
He has a short, easy care coat that is silky and shiny.
Jax is a very smart young dog – he catches on quickly and gets along with everyone and everything. He plays well with my other foster dogs, big and small.
He isn’t a dominant dog – he fits right in with all my critters.
Jax is a fun, playful and mellow. If you are looking for a great family dog who is playful and active, Jax would be a great choice. He is kind and good natured, and has a tail wagging attitude.
Jax is a bit independent – he will follow you around, once he gets to know you, but he isn’t at all needy, so he doesn’t demand constant attention.
Of course, Jax’s adoption covers everything: He is neutered and up to date on all of his shots.
Jax is completely house trained and crate-trained. He isn’t a barker, so he won’t disturb your neighbors. He comes when he is called and never wanders off.
He behaves very well in a car and on leash, but he is strong, active, and willful. He will do well with gentle, positive training, and he is a perfect age to learn good manners in his forever home!
You might want to consider taking Jax home for a sleepover to see how you and the rest of your family adapt to one another.
