My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Copper is a gorgeous little Beagle mix who has been raised with kids and cats and just loves everyone. We don’t know what he is mixed with but believe he will be a medium sized dog as an adult. He has always lived in a home environment and has been loved and cared for throughout his life. Copper is just 6 months old, has been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Copper is a 6 month old beagle X puppy. He is a healthy, happy little guy. He is trained to signal you when he needs to go out and hasn’t had any accidents in the house. He is super friendly with everyone and a bundle of joy. Loves to give kisses and get belly rubs. A true testament to his breed.

Copper has beautiful white teeth and shiny brown puppy eyes that just melts into your heart. He weights about 27lbs. He has a beautiful fur coat and at this time it’s low shedding.

He loves to go for walks and plays catch and actually always returns the ball back to you. He enjoys playing with his toys and loves being with his people. He knows sit, and down and bring it here and drop it. He will need someone who has time to invest with continuing his education on recall and with walking on a leash. He is food motivated and with positive training will master all that is required of a good family pet.

Copper has a lot of puppy energy and would benefit from a long walk once a day. A secure fenced area would be a good thing to have because he does have a hounds nose and would run after squirrels or birds. He has a moderate energy level and then crashes. He plays well with all dogs and cats who are dog savvy . He isn’t aggressive at all towards animals or people he just wants to love and be loved. He comes from a family that had children too so he is fine with children who are over 5 years of age.

He is crate trained but will bark and whine for a few minutes and then settles down. He doesn’t seem to be afraid of anything or anyone. I do believe if you opened the door to go out he would run outside so he will need to be on a lead or let out in a secure fenced yard. Copper will bark if someone comes to the door but unless he hears other dogs barking he is quiet in the home.

Copper knows some basic commands like sit, down, drop it, fetch it but needs further training. He will need someone who can train him to walk on a leash and to not jump up on the couches. He will try to see what food is on the counter but isn’t tall enough to reach the table or counters. If you leave food around the house he would get into it. He is completely house trained and sleeps through the night. He loves car rides and looks out the window before he finally settles down for a nap.
