My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whitney is an all around great family pet. She has a wonderful personality, is playful and willing to please. She listens well and enjoys being around people and other pets. We have not tested her with cats however given the fact she is listens so well and doesn’t appear to have a prey drive, we believe she would be okay with dog savvy cats. Whitney is approximately 2 – 3 years old and currently weighs approximately 50 lbs but she is still under weight.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Whitney has a very sweet and mild personality. She gets a sleepy/happy look when you scratch her ear. Take her outside and she is bouncy and playful. She loves squeaky toys and likes to carry her toys around with her. Her eyes are the same honey colour as her ears which is adorable. Whitney is a little on the slight side but is eating well and will fill out quickly. She has bright eyes and a petite girlish quality to her.

I believe Whitney could play outside for hours if given a chance. She likes to engage her foster brother Cooper with play and if he is done playing she is quick to grab a toy and bounce around by herself. When indoors, you can tell if she is ready for a nap because she lets out a big sigh and collapses onto her bed for some snooze time.

She has demonstrated that she is friendly with all whom she meets. This being said, we have not had an opportunity to introduce her to any children but we believe she would be fine. There has been zero signs of aggression, and if anything I would consider Whitney to be more submissive than anything. Her foster brother Cooper, although a big sweetie, has been a little jealous of his new friend and she politely steps back if he lets out a grumble or two. She is very playful with other dogs and overall very respectful of their space.

Whitney absolutely loves playing in the backyard and sometimes takes some coaxing to come back inside. She loves to toss her toys around and entertain herself and will engage in play with her brother Cooper. She enjoys walks and tries to greet people – she will need some work with pulling on the leash. Indoors she is very quiet. Whitney does have a habit of moving things. She will move the mat, her dog blanket, a boot, or a bottle from the recycling. She does the same with her toys and will need to learn the difference between what she is allowed to play with and what she should leave alone. She loves recycled bottles and will take them out of bin and move them around the yard. I recommend keeping garbage away from reach – I left some on the back desk and she got into some food packaging. In the house however she doesn’t counter surf at all. She did not know any commands but has learned to sit and we are working on giving paw. Whitney is house trained. Whitney has not been crated in her foster home. So far she has been very scared to get into vehicles. Once driving she smiles and enjoys the ride.

Whitney is very kind and gentle but also has a sense of adventure and discovery. I believe she would do well in a home where she can get walked at the park, or go for a hike so she can explore. She is very sweet and she enjoys hugs and snuggles – she has not shown any aggression and I believe would be great with children if she were placed with them. I consider her to be a wonderful family pet. It has been my pleasure fostering this lovely little lady.
