Artemis is a proud member and the only boy of the Moonlight 5 dogs. He and 4 other puppies were dumped on a randomly traveled country road with nothing but a bag of food. When they were found, they were lying single file across the road at 3:00 in the morning and made no effort to move off the street from the approaching vehicle. They were more than happy to join the people who stopped to help them. They were covered in 100s of ticks, some of them had likely been attached to their bodies for weeks or even months. And they all tolerated the removal of the ticks with grace and gratitude.

Artemis is the strong silent type…tall, dark and extremely handsome with bright, amber-colored eyes! He looks like a miniature Great Dane to most who try to guess his breed, but we don’t truly know what his DNA holds. He has a gentle manner with people but is a playtime maniac with his sisters. He plays well at the dog park and has even met some tiny puppies he was curious about without being overwhelming for them. In fact, smaller dogs seem to have a bigger attitude than Artemis. He knows to avoid the grumpy dog of the house and knows his manners with older dogs well. He sometimes needs reminders not to lick the cat too much. He loves to chase a ball but does not yet bring it back. He can be shy at times meeting new people, but warms up quickly. He investigates his fosters while they are in their chairs, placing only his front feet on the chair, but doesn’t jump into the chair with them. He loves to take naps on the sofa and does not mind when his people sit beside him. And at bedtime, he makes sure he has his space in the center of the bed between his people and takes up as much space as he can with the full intention of keeping his people warm on cold winter nights!

Artemis knows what he wants and lets you know it! When his water dish is empty, he will bring it to you! He takes treats gently from a hand and never snaps. He likes to lick coconut oil or peanut butter from his foster’s hand. He will plunge into his food dish to eat but does not mind if the bowl is taken from him…though he’d really like to finish eating! Due to the number of dogs in his foster family’s home, he is used to receiving his meals inside his crate and runs quickly to his crate when his food dish is ready. This boy loves food! All food! And this tall guy is not opposed to helping himself to snacks from the counter. He’s used to having a meal before going to bed and will sleep all night with his tummy happily full. He knows his name and responds fairly well when called. He has done well around young children at the dog park but preferred to play with the dogs.

Artemis has been a such a sweetheart and is so handsome, he gets the attention of all who meet him. He is about a year old, he weighs only about 50 - 55 pounds and he's a very healthy boy. We don’t know what his breed mix is -- a "Mini-Great Dane"??? -- but it’s got to be a combination sweetness and male supermodel. He’s an athletic boy with long fast legs that let him run like the wind! He has a preciously sweet heart and would make the best new family member. Please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Full vetting, microchip and neuter included in his $400 adoption fee. Transport fee is additional $150. IF YOU HAVE AOL or YAHOO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FILE FOR OUR RESPONSE
