My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Merryweather and I am a 1 year old female Yorkie / Terrier mix who found my way into a city shelter when my owner lost their home sadly. Thankfully a really nice shelter worker reached out to my foster dad who came and helped myself and my sisters Fauna and Flora find great foster homes until we can find our fur-ever homes.

I am a playful little lady who LOVES to play with toys, to romp and run in a fenced yard playing with my foster mom, and I like to snuggle with people I trust. I can be a bit shy and nervous around new people and in new situations, but with some soft words of encouragement and a few tasty treats I quickly open up and show you my goofy personality.

I get along well with other dogs who are friendly and who like to play with me. I'm doing well with learning how to do my personal business outside and am learning how to sit in my foster home. I would do well with a home that had a family who was home often, I would LOVE a fenced yard to romp and play with or a family who liked to take daily walks and would take me to doggy day care occasionally as I like to be a social butterfly when I'm comfortable.

I am up to date on all of my vaccines and I get to visit the doggy doctor next week to be spayed and then I will be ready to find my fur-ever family. I would do best in a home with kids who are 12 years or older and a family who was home often to love me.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
-Children must be 12 yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard preferred or plan in application for frequent walks/doggy day care, etc.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
