Lenny's Story...
Last week was supposed to be Lenny's last. This poor little fellow found himself on the shelter's euthanasia list due to overcrowding. He was hours from being put down when CARE saw his smiling face in a photo and knew we had to step in! Lenny is a 2 year old lab mix who is very gentle and friendly. He is surprisingly calm for his young age and does well on a leash. He showed us his smarts by demonstrating "sit" and "stay" perfectly. We are very excited to help this boy get a second chance at life!

Please apply to adopt here: http://caretx.org/adopt and CARE will be in touch with you ASAP!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lenny, a Portland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
