My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DEWEY

Neutered Male     Cream Miniature Poodle Mix     16 lbs.     1 to 2 years old

Fee:  $350

Hi, folks.  My name is Dewey and I’m here waiting for you at the kennel – one laid back, really mellow guy who would be just perfect for your family, or for a single person or couple that is active and likes walks or even jogging.

Since I’m young and was living on the streets until my rescue story began, I haven’t had a lot of training, but I’m a superfast learner and really into figuring out what I’m supposed to do to get along with everyone, human and canine.  My foster mom had a not so mellow dog and I went out of my way to avoid any conflict with him, which really wasn’t easy, but I managed.  That’s what a peacemaker I am.  I have to confess to chasing a cat here and there, but when my foster mom told me emphatically (well, in truth she yelled) not to do that, I just stopped mid-chase.  As I said, I’m anxious to please and would really like it if you took me to a class or something so I can get it all down pat.  Stuff like walking nicely on a leash.   Another thing is that I’ve figured out on my own that people don’t like dogs with bad bathroom habits, so I try always to wait until I can get outside to take care of that business.  I think that means I’m housebroken.

For a miniature I’m a pretty respectable size at 16 pounds, which would make me just right for older children, say 10 years old give or take a year or two.  And it makes me a perfect size for playing with other dogs (I love other friendly dogs), and I’d be into long walks, hiking, jogging, or strolling on the beach.  I borrowed that line about strolling on the beach from the singles ads – they always say they like strolling on the beach at sunset.  I’ve never actually tried strollking on the beach, but I just know I would love it, particularly if it’s your thing.

I’m laid back alright, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not anxious to find a home of my own!  So I hope you’ll read this, see my photos (which really don’t do me justice if I do say so--  I have a wonderful soft, wavy coat and big brown eyes) and decide that you want to meet me and take me home so we can start our life together.  Sounds like a great plan!

Dogs are vaccinated, microchipped  and spayed/neutered before adoption.

The necessary first step to inquire about any dog, is to complete the NCPR Adoption Interest Form. Once we receive the NCPR Adoption Interest Form, a volunteer will contact you promptly. We need your information to match you with the perfect companion.
