Smokey's Story...

Smokey was purchased from an area pet store in October 2016. He is approximately 9 months old. He was neutered in March 2017. He is very shy at first but warms up to new people fairly quickly. He loves to climb to the ceiling on his cat tower and may lie there for hours as "king of the house". He can be mischievous and is very curious. He and his sister sleep and play together. He enjoys looking out the window and chasing crickets. He has been in the house since we got him and acts as if he would love to explore outdoors (He and his sister must stay in due to dogs who aren't cat friendly).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Mckee American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Mckee, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Mckee.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mckee already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mckee breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mckee paves the way for another one to be saved.
