This 60lb Baby Boy is only around 9 months old but has already been diagnosed as heartworm positive.
The basic care of providing him with monthly preventative could have solved that problem.....but, Louie's fate was to be with a family who didn't care enough to protect him.
Not only did they not provide him with the needed medical care, but they ultimately gave him up to a high kill shelter without a second thought!
When we learned that he was to be euthanized the next morning because his time was up we could not let the idea of our over loaded vet budget hold us back from saving his life. Heartworm treatment is an expensive process and can typically cause shelter dogs to be overlooked by rescue because of the expense!
Louie is a part labrador retriever and part unknown. He's a puppy who's never known how to just be happy go lucky and playful. He's a beautiful, mindful boy who has a sweet temperament and looks to his person for direction and praise.
He is being treated for heart worm now at our vet's office in North Carolina. He will have completed his final injection the end of April and be ready to transport to a home or his foster family.
Prior to his heartworm injections he was neutered, brought current on all vaccines and micro chipped.
So, if you've been thinking of getting a dog that will be wonderful company, please consider our handsome boy, Louie. He will bring you years of love and enjoyment.
