My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PEPPER

Spayed Female     Black Miniature Poodle Mix     4 years old     15 pounds

Fee:  $300

I am Pepper and I’m so happy to be going up on the rescue website because I’m really excited about finding my forever home.  I think when someone sees my photo they’ll see how cute I am and then read to see if I’m as nice as I am cute.   And then when they read all the nice things my foster mom says about me, they’ll come and scoop me up and take me home, just as in my dreams.

For instance, my foster mom will tell you that I am really easy to take care of – a quiet, gentle lady of a dog.  And she knows a nice dog when she sees one because she’s had lots of foster dogs.  She will tell you that I don’t cause a fuss at bedtime -- I am happy to go in my crate at night to sleep, and even go there on my own during the day to take a nap if it’s left out with the door open.  Of course I’m housebroken!  That goes without saying!  If you need to go somewhere, I’m not one of those dogs that will put up a fuss about it.  I’ve heard there is something called separation anxiety, but I don’t have that problem.  But if you want to take me with you, that’s ok too—I like meeting new people!  I know some helpful commands like come and sit and down, and a few that are just for fun like shaking hands.  I’m more than willing to learn any others that you might want to teach me.  Training and treats are fun, and I’ve had some training with a clicker thing, so if you get one of those it will really get my attention.   So you see, just as I said – a nice, quiet, easy to take care of dog.

In the home I can picture, I will be an only dog and my new people will be adults.  It’s just that my eyesight isn’t all that great (the vet said something about me being born with a small optic nerve), and that makes it nicer for me when things are predictable.  Don’t worry—I get around just fine, but it’s just that I would find the rough and tumble of kids and other dogs (not to mention cats) a bit confusing.

If you get in touch with the poodle rescue people, they will have my foster mom contact you so that we can meet.  Until then, I’m here waiting for you!

Dogs are vaccinated, microchipped  and spayed/neutered before adoption.

The necessary first step to inquire about any dog, is to complete the NCPR Adoption Interest Form. Once we receive the NCPR Adoption Interest Form, a volunteer will contact you promptly. We need your information to match you with the perfect companion. NorCal Poodle Rescue places dogs within northern California only.
