My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Darling
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 1 Year
WEIGHT: About 5-6 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other dogs both large and small, Unsure on cats
CHILDREN: Fine with older, mature children (12 and older)

We have a darling little girl for you to meet. As a matter of fact, we have named her Darling!

In late March, we were contact by the Amarillo TX animal shelter. As the entire country watched and prayed, the Texas panhandle was being affected by massive wildfires. The smoke from these wildfires were affecting everything including animals in this region. The Amarillo reached out to CRT to ask if we could take a few Chihuahuas that were in their shelter and in danger of being impacted by the smoke and fire. CRT was happy to help, and we arranged transportation moving the Chihuahuas from Amarillo to us here in the Dallas area. Darling is one of the special girls that we transported, and we are thrilled to have her in our program.

With all the activity of changing homes, Darling was a bit shy the first few days we had her. But she warmed up within 48 hours and we have found that she LOVES people! She enjoys being around her foster Mom and Dad every moment that they are home. One of their favorite family activities is to pile in to the bed and watch movies together. Darling is right in the middle of the pile showing her love by snuggling with everyone! This girl is super sweet.

Darling also gets along with all the dogs in her foster home. There are both small dogs and a large dog and she is an equal opportunity lover! She enjoys playing with them. She loves to be outside in the yard running zoomies with the crowd. She also loves to play with toys. She and her foster Chihuahua sibling love to play tug-of-war with the toys. She has a medium energy level (she is past the puppy stage, but active and alive!). She would love to have another dog to play with in her forever home.

Darling is really smart. She is working on her potty training and is great at using pee pee pads. She is working on her outside potty routine and is almost there in just a few weeks. She is also crate trained (although we think she would prefer to cuddle with you in bed if you would let her!). Darling is a fairly quiet dog - she rarely barks.

Darling has a beautiful chocolate coat. Her coat is a little longer than a typical short hair Chihuahua. We would describe it as a medium length. And she has beautiful eyes.

Darling is about a year old and is a perfect 5 - 6 pounds. She should do well in a home with older, mature children (12 and older).
