My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While we do not know his breed, his exact age, or much about his past life, we do know Elton will make a true blue canine companion
when he finally finds the forever home he so deserves.

Elton is 46lbs and appears to be a Shepherd/Collie mix. He is approximately 6 or 7 years old. He's a shy boy and can be slow to warm up to new people, perhaps as a result of mistreatment in his past.

When he does come out of his shell, Elton is a loving, cuddly boy that prefers human contact over any doggy toys. He REALLY loves long walks on his leash (but prefers to go running on his leash!) the best. At the end of his walks he waits patiently to have his paws wiped and his harness removed. He knows basic commands and rides nicely in the car. What a good boy.

We suspect Elton spent much of his past life outdoors. He really enjoys being outside chasing squirrels, chipmunks, and other small animals, and cold weather doesnt seem to bother him a bit. A fully fenced yard in a quiet rural setting will be best for him.

Elton may do well in a home with another canine but, sometimes has a tendancy to be dominant in his play. He is not protective of his food or toys but, loud sudden noises startle him so, he may do well in a home with calm, older children but, has not been introduced to any in his foster home.

Elton enjoys hugs and rubs and will stay put for hours as long as there is a warm hand on his head or chest. He will be great in a forever home that will provide for him the things he loves the most, lots of outdoor exercise and cuddles in a quiet, cozy home.

If you have any questions or are interested in adopting Elton, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847 852-0895.
Elton is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, nuetered, and on monthly Heartworm preventative.
