My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sir Francis is the 'face' of GetALong Dachshund Rescue and he is looking for love and a forever home. This spunky 13 pound, 10 year old boy has a lot of love to share with the one lucky enough to welcome him home.

Sir Francis came into rescue emaciated and in desperate need of vet care. With time, veterinarian care, and a loving foster home in Mississippi, he is now ready for his forever home. Sir Francis has no teeth or bottom jaw due to neglect of his oral care in his past. Sir Francis is heart worm positive and is being treated with the slow kill method. GetALong Dachshund Rescue will continue to provide this treatment for any approved adopter of Sir Francis, until such time he tests negative for heart worms.

Sir Francis is trained to use potty pads, but he is not crate trained. He will ask to go outside to potty and he will always use his pad. Like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important.

Sir Francis gets along very well with other dogs and likes children. He has not been cat tested. A loving and playful boy, he gets along well with everyone. Sir Francis sleeps in a playpen in his foster home which he calls his 'apartment'.

Sir Francis does well on a car ride and does not have any separation anxiety. Despite having very few teeth, Sir Francis eats well and is not fussy, but he does need soft foods.

This loving, sweet boy is looking for a home that is ready for love! If you are looking for the sweetest boy to make your heart fill with joy, Sir Francis is for you! Apply to adopt him today and experience the love that is Sir Francis.
