My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frosty looks like he could be a beardie or oes mix,/wheaton terrier. He is approx 3 yrs old and 27 lbs. He will need to put on some weight as he is thin. He is a beautiful dog that was really matted when we rescued him. He is a really sweet boy, a little shy and timid. He is quiet and well behaved, and he gets along well with the other dogs and has a really nice disposition. He does well on a leash and rides well in the car. He seems to be fairly well house trained and runs out to the yard with thew other dogs. He was injured when we rescued him and needed an FHO. He had his surgery and is healing well. He also tested positive for heartworms and has been treated with the required series of injections and he has also been started on heartguard monthly as a preventative. Because of his surgery and his leg is still healing we require a home with no small children.

The total adoption donation of $525 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
