My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is not in the care of Ace of Hearts. If you are interested, please contact the shelter directly:
San Diego Humane Society | 760.681.5772 | sdhumane.org

King entered the shelter as a stray. He was very nervous on intake but allowed all vaccinations and treatments with minimal restraint. We were unable to get a weight on King. When they attempted to coax him on to the scale, he stiffened and leaned away. Not wanting to stress him further, staff decided not to force him onto the scale. King has been shy, but fairly easy to handle while in care, however we have not been able to complete his behavior assessment. He has been easy to retrieve from his kennel, but when he approaches the building in which we perform our assessments, King digs his heels in and pulls away from the doorway at the end of the leash. He will head whip when he reaches the end of the leash, trying to retreat further from the door. Staff have tried offering high value treats, such as Vienna sausages, to lure him closer to the doorway, but he still will not approach.

King is currently intact, but we will perform his neuter after we get a commitment to pull.
