Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Who gets the last laugh? Elf. Why? Because his previous family surrendered him to a high kill shelter with a pin sticking out of his badly broken leg. A pin that meant that same leg was already broken once, surgery was performed and then his leg was broken again. Then Elf sat at Animal Control for weeks waiting for rescue and waiting for his next surgery, which unfortunately, a municipal shelter simply doesn't have the funds or resources to perform. We know, we know, where the heck does the laugh come in? (Laugh) Because we rescued Elf and our incredible veterinary team performed an extensive orthopedic surgery to save his leg. (Laugh) Because his amazing foster mom opened her home and worked with him every day to slowly increase the strength in his leg. (Laugh) Because now we get to watch Elf stand and twirl and spin on his hind legs like a circus pup since he is all healed. Who's laughing now? Elf. Because he beat the odds, made it out of the shelter, is all fixed up and now gets to find an amazing forever home. That shouldn't be too hard since he is the happiest boy we know. He loves dogs. He loves cats. He loves people. He loves outside (walks). He loves inside (naps). He loves to play (toys and room-to-room zoomies). He loves car rides (running errands or road trips). He loves adventures (going to work with you or a weekend hike). He loves showing off (the easy stuff like sit and come and the fancy stuff like twirl). Elf loves being fully vetted (neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested and microchippedd). Elf loves being housebroken. Elf does not love being crate trained. He can tolerate it but he really loves being on his best behavior, even when you're gone, so no real need for a crate. Elf loves life and would be a fantastic match for just about any family. A family that loves to love and love to laugh because our 3 year old, 17lb. Spaniel-ish mix is all about love and laughter. There's a lot of that in this post and we want that to follow Elf forever. If that's you, please complete an application at omdrescue.org.
