Nellie's Story...
ORIGINAL BIO 10-17-2008: Nellie is an 18 mo old, 12# little yorkie mix who is very, very sweet. She appears to get along with the other pups in the home and has already started playing a little. Nellie was shaved before she was brought to the shelter which has left her in desperate need of a doggie 'make-over'. Despite her wonderful personality, both of Nellie's potential adopters who came for her decided not to take her home, leaving Nellie scared and alone at the shelter before UYR came to get her. We think Nellie is beautiful just the way she is! She is a cuddler and wants to be your new best friend. Her tail is always wagging, letting you know she's ready to go home with you! Nellie is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nellie, a Ft Myers Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier for sale in Ft Myers, or seeking a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier puppy from a breeder in Ft Myers.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ft Myers already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ft Myers breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier breeders who help with Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ft Myers paves the way for another one to be saved.
