My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BELLA: 10 Year Old Yellow Female Lab Spayed 80 Pounds

Sweet sweet Bella:

My face may be white, but my heart is pure gold. There is no shame in growing old. Author unknown

Bella has had a rough few months but now GGLRR has her in our program and she is on the way to a full recovery and we hope soon to her new forever home.

GGLRR was contacted by the SFSPCA as they had heard about Bella and her situation. (If a rescue did not step up for Bella she would have been put down.) They reached out to a volunteer with GGLRR to see if we could help Bella. GGLRR stepped up and took Bella into their program and got her into a foster home where she is doing great. Bella was a stray in the Tehama area and she fell into a swimming pool. A good Samaritan helped Bella get out of the pool but she was in such a panic at that time that she bit the hand of the good Samaritan. She was taken to the shelter where the found a microchipped but her owner did not come looking for her. She got pneumonia from falling into the pool and she started to shut down in the shelter. She was being treated for her pneumonia at the shelter but truly needed to be in a home.

From the foster mom:

Bella is a sweetheart and definitely worth the effort. She is very friendly to people and dogs alike, quiet relaxed and quiet. Bella is housebroken, she sleeps through the night on a dog bed next to her foster mom and does not make a peep. Bella is not destructive when left alone, does not guard her food and to a true lady. She is learning to walk on a leash but she is not a big puller. Bella goes on a 20 – 30 minute walk a day and is a DREAM dog. She loves to hang out inside the home with her foster mom. She can be left alone with no issues or she goes with her foster mom to deliver meals on wheels. We would recommend Bella be adopted to a home with older kids, she would be fine in a home with dogs or cats.

Medical:

GGLRR has had he to the vet a couple of times to make sure she is getting clear up her pneumonia. She has had all her shots, she has been microchipped, she is heartworm negative, she has had x-rays and she has had a full blood panel and well check. Bella does need some dental work and she needs to be spayed but GGLRR can’t do this until she is cleared of her pneumonia. Bella goes in on May 1st for her last x-ray to clear her. She is feeling great and is running around the fosters backyard.

She is located in Petaluma.

If you are interested in making BELLA part of your pack please, call Rescue Rep Liz 415-613-6374.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
