My name is Woogie and I am looking for a good home for the REST of my life. I am 8 years old. I have had a heck of a life so far and dagnabbit..it is my time to be loved forever. Please? I am very sweet. I do need some supervision on my potty habits cause see..before I landed in the shelter the first time, i lived with a hoarder. It was awful and dirty and we never got to go outside. I was saved from that and eventually adopted only to be stuck outside for four more years. I was matted and had fleas and worms and was just dirty. Now I am all cleaned up and instead of going through the shelter, now I am in rescue. I need a home who can be patient. Cause I have never been in a real home who loved me enough to show me the ropes. But i want very much to make everyone happy.
Within a couple of days of Woog's arrival we discovered a large mass on his side. It has grown fairly quickly and the vets have determined it IS cancer. Due to his age and the aggressive nature of the mass (it is also non operable) we have opted for giving Woog comfort care rather than making him sick and miserable for whatever time he has left. So he is being treated with low dosages of pain meds as needed and we did a round of prednisone to try and slow the growth of the cancer. Which could be repeated as needed
Woogie is a cool dog. Truly. He is fun to have around and is well behaved. He is housebroken and crate trained, he loves going for walks and rides. he is not a barker. Gets along with cats and likes all people. His down sides are that he can be a pushy and intolerant with other dogs (if they respct his space, eh does the same) and the mas is sensitive to the touch and he will nip if it hurts. He is immediately apoligetic. The boy does not have a mean bone in his body. We are recommending an adult only home for him. Other dogs are ok if they don't try to push him around. (better yet if they don't mind him pushing THEM around) He loves to play fetch but he won't bring the toy back..or give it back willingly lol. He loves to snuggle and loves to just be loved. Woogie would never be a bother and is so sweet in his Oscar the Grouch sorta way, he is so worth loving.
We know Woogies time is limited with us. He is perfectly safe in a loving foster home but if someone with fewer dogs and more time wanted to fofer him a hospice home, we would be happy to let them. Due to his condition we are not asking an adoption fee though a donation towards his care would be appreciated.
