Goose's Story...
My little "Jelly Bean" Goose is just about ready for his new home. He is recovering from a dental (ouch!) and a neuter (yikes!). Goose is probably a Chiweenie, weighs just under 7 pounds, is about 10 years old. He not only loves but practically demands to be near his person. Very loving and affectionate for those of you who like "kissy" dogs. Goose got his name from being found chasing geese in a field. Hard to believe that feathers had to be removed from his mouth. He is lucky that one of those 40 - lb. geese did not peck him on his little head. Goose has not made a sound since being with Salem Dogs. Well, not quite. He snores and sounds a lot like Chewbacca.
While at the shelter, he charmed everyone with his Puss in Boots eyes. Like P in B from Shrek. Gotta love it.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Goose, a Salem Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Salem, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
