My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Sugar
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 8 - 10 Months
WEIGHT: About 8 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Good with both dogs and cats
CHILDREN: Will be great in a home with older children

Sugar is both a fun and loving chiweenie! She has the best of both worlds - playful entertainment and cuddling affection. Sugar is about 8 - 10 months old. She loves to play with people, dogs, cats and tons of toys. She may be full grown at 8 pounds, but she has a lot of playful active puppy in her. When her activity winds down, she is your best lapdog. She loves to cuddle with you and a blanket for a good nap on the couch.

Sugar came from a previous family that had a lot of big dogs, which prevented her from getting the love & attention that she needed. They either didn’t have time or the experience to do any puppy training, so she is now learning simple commands and housebreaking. We would say she’s about halfway to being housebroken. She knows to go potty outside when she is outside. She is starting to go to the door to let us know she needs to go out. She also will use puppy pads if needed. Being food motivated has really helped Sugar with her training. She loves small treats & dog cookies and wants to really please you. Disappointing you really hurts her feelings, so any verbal discipline will need to be gentle and positive training is best. We have no doubt she will go far with her motivation in training!

Sugar is a fearless and sassy gal. She loves to run around in our fenced backyard and house like she runs the place. She has no fear and alerts us whenever there is a stranger on the property. But whenever we have people over, she warms up quickly and wants to be everyone’s friend!

Sugar has a great character trait! She has a big overbite, because her lower jaw is smaller. This doesn’t bother her with drinking, eating or playing. But this gives us a little comic relief that matches well with her goofy self.

Sugar loves toys of all kinds - squeakies, stuffies, chewies, tuggies. You name it, she will play with it. But since she is technically a puppy still (she is 8 - 10 months), she will need an eye to be kept on her. Sometimes she has a hard time knowing what are her toys and what items are not! LOL.

Sugar is crate trained and will go into a crate with a treat motivation. She doesn’t mind napping in her crate whenever you cannot keep an eye on her. She is not quite ready to have free range of the house without supervision. But we are sure she will be with a little more training and maturing. We are working with her when it comes to the front door opening. She has bolted out of the front door a couple of times. But a command to keep back before we open the door definitely works!

If you are looking for a young, fun and a affectionate dog, then Sugar just may be the right dog for you! She would love to have a family and a home to call her own!
