My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tipper’s owner passed away and there was no one to take him so he ended up in a shelter. It is obvious that he was well loved and fully trained by someone who really cared about him. He is a wonderful, loyal and loving companion and can be left alone in the home with no issues. Tipper is a senior approximately 11 years old. He has had all of his medical updated including a full dental and currently weighs approximately 25 lbs (although he could stand to lose a few).

Here is what Tipper’s foster family had to say:

Tipper is settled and a happy boy with us. He has excellent manners. He waits for you to go through the door before he goes, doesn’t beg for food and will just go have a snooze while you are eating. He usually waits for you to eat before visiting his bowl. He hasn’t done anything in terms of disrespecting our property. He doesn’t get on furniture unless invited. The only issue really is the fact he will carry on when someone comes to the house. He thinks he is a guard dog and sounds the alarm.

Tipper is a senior dog and has just had a full dental done and is now missing some teeth and he can be a bit stiff when he first gets up after a nap. However, he plays like a puppy running after a ball, and enjoys being petted and cuddled. He likes being brushed and we haven’t seen much in the way of shedding. He loves his walk twice a day, and moseys around the garden when we are in the hot tub. We took him to a friend’s house for dinner on the deck and he was fine.

He has been very good with people of all ages that we have met on our walks as well as other dogs of all sizes. He is very quiet, calm and well behaved in the home. Even in the car he just quietly sits and watches out the window. He knows all of his basic commands and walks very well on leash. He loves his walk. As soon as the leash appears he does a dance in a circle and stands at the door. He has full run of our house and is fine. He was completely house trained from day one.

Tipper is just a perfect, loyal and loving companion in the home and when we take him out anywhere. His only real issue is when people come to the house and then he is all “stranger danger”, barking and carrying on. He would definitely need someone who has more experience with this sort of thing then we do to correct this behaviour but outside the home he has no issue with meeting anyone and never barks at anyone.

Tipper would be a wonderful loving and loyal companion for anyone who just wants a sweet, well behaved little dog. He would do well with a few short walks or a back yard to play in. He is not really a dog for children but rather an adult’s companion. He can be left on his own with no issues but would be nice if someone was home more often than not. I am sure in his former life he was well loved.

If you think you have room in your home and your heart to make Tipper an addition to your life, please go to our main webwite at uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an application for consideration.
