My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Pearl
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 2 Years
WEIGHT: About 10 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Needs to be an only dog
CHILDREN: All adult home

Meet sweet Pearl. Pearl got her name because of her beautiful coloring. She is almost all white with light tan on her ears. Her ears are adorable - they are fluffy and floppy. He face is so adorable. Pearl's name fits her perfectly because she is going to mature in to a "gem" of a little girl.

Pearl is new to our CRT program. Dallas Animal Services contacted us about Pearl. She had been found as a stray with dog bites and ticks on her. We believe she was an outdoor dog, and had been in survival mode. CRT was happy to bring her in to our program, let her heal, and begin to show her the love she deserves.

Pearl was a bit nervous and apprehensive when she came in to her foster home. She stayed at arms length, wanting to be sure that she was in a safe environment. After a few days, she began to warm up and integrate in to the family more and more. We now find her craving love and attention, but still wanting to make sure she is safe.

Pearl is a bundle of energy. She is full of love and joy. And she expresses that by constantly playing! Although she is two, it is almost as if she is still in her puppy stage (maybe she never felt safe enough to be a puppy and now that she feels safe, the playfulness is coming out). She LOVES to play with toys of all kinds. Her favorite is the rope tug-of-war game. We have to tell you, though, she always wants to win!!

Pearl needs to be an only dog. Sometimes she is a bit rambunctious with people as she tries to engage them. She wants to play rough. So you will have to train her in the proper way to play! But she is good at listening to commands and she really wants to please her humans.

Pearl also loves the outdoors. She loves to go in to the back yard, smell all the smells, lay in the sun, take jogs through the grass, etc. She is such an outdoor girl that sometimes we have to pick her up when it is time to go in!

Pearl loves her foster family. She was shy for the first few days, but once she felt safe, Pearl turned in to a huge love bug. She loves to be around her family all the time. Pearl loves to lay next to you. She longs for love and affection. If you want a buddy to hang around with and watch TV with, Pearl would like to volunteer for the job! She seems to enjoy all people and once she is comfortable, she is an equal opportunity lover!

Pearl is working on her potty training. We are working with her outside routine. She is talkative and will gives you a "head's up" if strangers are coming to the door. She is crate trained. Pearl is currently about 10 pounds. She loves food. To prevent her from getting over weight, we monitor her food consumption. So her new family will need to watch her food intake to make sure she maintains a beautiful figure!

Pearl is young, and will need some additional training on boundaries of playing, eating, etc. But she is smart, and definitely wants to learn how to make you happy. With some extra discipline, and loving attention, we believe Pearl will continue to grow and mature. We currently recommend that Pearl be adopted into an adult only home so she can get the attention and guidance she will need to feel safe and blend in to her forever family. We also recommend that she be adopted as an only dog so that she does not feel like she has to compete for attention.
