My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone. My name is Baxter. I'm adorable. I'm happy... and I am short.
Not as short as a Dachshund because I am a mix. But you know when people who have about a 10 month old puppy say...I wish they would stay this size forever....well I am that size...forever.
I was hoping that since I have lab in me I would have grown a bit taller by now but the Dachshund in me said no to that.

I recently came all the way from the state of Alabama and here I am in foster care in Michigan. I'm sharing a foster home with 2 black labs that are a bit older than I am so it's nice and relaxed here. I have been enjoying the sunshine in the backyard and just listening to Kenny G as I am working on my tan.

I am VERY shy. I don't really know why but when people move too fast I get scared and I back away. I wouldn't make it in a home with little ones because they move faster than I am comfortable with and sometimes they like to grab and I don;t care for that at all. However if you happen to have a playful pet in the home already, I will be happy to get the party started with some good running and walking together.

I have an Alabama temperament meaning I like to stop an smell the roses when I'm walking or even during my day in foster care. My foster mom said I am a very easy foster boy to have around.

I will need a completely fenced in yard. My first night in foster care I saw how kind the labs and my foster mom are I decided this is a good place to be so I'm staying put.

Baxter is just learning what toys are and beginning to play with them. Baxter is also beginning to learn what a gentle touch is and becoming less and less afraid. Confident in some ways and still learning in others but progress is seen everyday. Baxter is a very easy walker too.

Baxter is a 2 year old Yellow Lab/Dachshund mix, 33 pounds, UTD on vaccinations, housebroken, neutered and micro chipped. He will need a home with patience and a family that will give him time and space to come around on his time.
