My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tuffy is about 10 years old and weighs 9.5 pounds. He is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Tuffy's adoption fee is $175 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Tuffy by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

UPDATED BIO 06/19/2017: Hi Everybody – Tuffy here. Boy-Oh-Boy - I never thought I’d see this day come. After visiting the vet several times, I’m happy to report that I’m healthy, happy and I’ve got lots of love to give to my forever family – Yoo-Hooooo! Are you out there?

My Foster Mom gives me wonderful meals (I’ve heard them say it’s “dog food”). I like it a lot. My Foster Dad is super great, too. He takes me for walks and plays fetch with me. Life is just wonderful. I just can’t stop smiling, especially now that I’ve had a dental.. My Foster Parents explained to me that I won’t be staying with them furever, and this makes me sad cuz’ I really love them. Foster Mom said some other family is just waiting to give me even more love ‘cause they will scoop me up and take me to my furever home. She said that when that happens, I’ll never-ever-no-never-ever have to worry again about getting regular meals, fun walks, and especially getting lots of love.

If you are still reading, that means you may be interested in adopting me, and may even be my Furever family. Please hurry, I’m so anxious and I promise that I will give you lots and lots of love – forever.

Note from Foster Mom & Dad: Please don’t turn away from Tuffy because of his age – he has a lot of years of love to give to his forever family. He has a happy disposition and….he is house-trained!

UPDATED BIO 05/11/2017: Tuffy had his dental and lost the rest of his teeth. But not to worry, he still has a voracious appetite and loves his soft food. Tuffy is super sweet and when he's not sitting by his food bowl waiting on his next meal, he loves to cuddle and have his head and back scratched. Tuffy is enjoying the attention and love that he has missed for a while – this little boy appeared at the shelter looking very sad and very neglected. But that has been taken care of for sure! He has a happy personality in spite of what he has gone through.

Tuffy is a very smart little boy – he knows to ask to go outside to do his business and so far enjoys short walks on the leash. Once he feels a bit better by having two healthy meals every day, and has recuperated from his dental, Foster Dad feels Tuffy will want to go on much longer walks. Please don’t turn away from Tuffy because of his age – he has a lot of years of love to give to his forever family.
