My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Five years ago, in 2012, Freeway (formerly known as Guido) was a little lost dog on the hill. For 2 months he was on his own, suffering through a spring thunderstorm and eluding capture. At last a determined rescuer was able to trap him one morning at 2 a.m. near a freeway off ramp and deliver him into a Dusty Paws foster home. He immediately made friends with the other little dogs there. Getting over his skittishness with humans took a little longer, but he soon seemed to realize he was safe. Following a vet visit and major grooming, Guido, as he was called at the time, was put up for adoption.

He soon found his new name - Freeway - and new home, spending 5 happy years there. Unfortunately, the senior couple that adopted him have now developed health problems and regretfully realize they need to find him a new loving home.

Freeway is now about 7 and weighs 16 lbs. He appears to be a Shih Tzu/ Terrier mix. He is a well-behaved house dog who is house trained and will sleep in a crate at night. He is not a barker, only speaking to alert. He is active, but will sit still and watch TV with you.

Freeway visits the groomers every 6-8 weeks and the vet every 6 months. He has just had a dental cleaning and is up to date on vaccinations. Vet records are available.

We believe Freeway will be happiest in a home with a retired person or persons who can spend time with him. He seems to be more comfortable with women than men, and would be ok with gentle children eight and up.
