My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

REX HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Hello there! My name is Rex and I am a purebred, AKC registered 8-year-old German Shepherd. It is unfortunate that I have come to this part in my life and I must part ways with my human. He had to move but most places he found only allowed my small dogs or no pets at all. Ugh. I hate those stupid rules. Let me start by telling the story when I first met my human. I was just 8 weeks old. I was visited by my human alongside my litter mates. I was happy and enjoying play time with them. When suddenly I was called by him. I immediately turned around and greeted him. I then went back to playing. Then he called again. That's when I knew I had to go home with him. He thought he picked me from everyone else but in reality, it was me that decided to go with him.
Throughout my 8 years (I just turned 8 on April 30) of being with my human, I have enjoyed the time I spent with him. He would take me camping, the lake, to work, long car rides, long walks and to visit his human friends. I love making new friends with both humans and other canines. I like structure and routine. That is how I learned my basic manners. I'd like to say that I'm trilingual as I know a few different commands in three languages. Though, I can still improve on my German and Spanish commands. I understand English best. My human thought he could pronounce German words well enough for me to understand but I let it slide. Hehe.I also know some sign language. I understand:
- Sit (sitzen) (sientate)
- down (platz) (bajo)
- no (nein)
- paw (mano)
- eat (come)
- water (agua)
- speak
- quiet
- up / up with hands on chest
- eat (come)
- crate
- go to sleep / go to bed
- potty, hurry potty
- back
- off
- leave it (deja)
- drop it
- come (ven)
- inside
- here
I can use some repetitive training with positive reinforcement to stay keen with the commands. Please, oh please use shredded cheddar as a treat. Yum! Also, I can always learn new things just be patient and consistent and we'll find ourselves on the same page sooner than you think.
While my human is working, I usually spend my time lounging around the house. Although I have the place to myself I always respect my home. I do not make messes or have accidents in the house and will wait patiently for my humans' return.
Well, I could keep going on and on but I'll wrap it up here so you can stop reading this and head over to meet me! I'll be your best friend and I will enjoy going anywhere with you, just spending time with you will make me happiest. Please, let's start a new journey together I am anxious to meet my new family! I am currently living in a foster home in Chicago. Please email palsplace1@homtail.com to request an adoption application and to set up a time to meet me! My adoption donation to the rescue is $275. This helps to cover any medical expenses during my time with the rescue and helps them rescue other dogs in need like myself I've just had a check-up, all of my vaccines and a heartworm and fecal test. I've got a clean bill of health!
