Herman's Story...
Herman is a big, gorgeous, white boy with fawn ticking and a fawn ear and eye patch. He is a love-bug who wants to be near his people. He loves to walk and hike and enjoys and benefits from nice long morning exercise walks (with time for sniffing, of course!). His leash manners are of course, impeccable. Afterwards, he is very content to settle down in his crate or on a dog bed and snooze. And a frozen Kong (stuffed with peanut butter) to work on when you leave the house is always appreciated!

Herman is incredibly food motivated and will follow you anywhere if you have treats. He can navigate stairs and is not afraid of any floor surfaces. He rides well in the car and gets along well with the resident greyhounds.

Herman has some pain and “fear of pain” issues, for which he is currently taking medication (and may need the medication long-term). He needs an adopter who will be sensitive to his behaviors and patient with him and willing to work with Herman to build a trusting relationship. Once Herman trusts you, he will gladly approach you to have his neck scratched. Because he is fearful of being hurt, Herman should not live in a home with children. However, with the right, understanding adults, he will be a wonderful companion. Interested in meeting Herman? Apply today for the opportunity!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Herman, a Spencerville Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Spencerville, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Spencerville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Spencerville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Spencerville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Spencerville paves the way for another one to be saved.
