My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poppy, one of the sweetest cats ever!

Poppy came into Adopt-A-pet pregnant and soon delivered the “P” kittens :). Poppy was an AWESOME mama and now that her kids are ready to fly the nest, she is ready to find her forever home too! Poppy LOVES attention, and will come right up to give you a head butt or a rub on your legs. As soon as you say “Hi Poppy”, she starts to purr, even before you give her a pet. Poppy was a friendly stray girl who made her way into a feral colony in a northern Chicago suburb. When we first met Poppy, she came right up for a pet. Poppy is a also a bit of a chirper, I wouldn’t call it a full meow, she’s just saying ‘Hi” and to let you know how happy she is. She also makes this cute sound when she wants to know where you are in the house. Poppy NEVER hides, and comes when she is called – she is always happy to see her human friends. She is a minimal transition girl! Poppy has been in a foster home with children 10 & 15 years old, and is completely fine with them. Poppy doesn’t mind being held for a short time, but she would rather be down on the ground exploring or sitting near you. Poppy has not been friendly to the dogs in her foster home, but that may have been because she was in protective mama mode.

Poppy would be fine as a solo cat, or in a multiple cat home.

You can meet Poppy at her current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd., 7 days a week during normal store hours. (www.wilmettepetcenter.com, 847-251-6750). Although she is so sweet you will want to take her home on the spot, you will need to submit an application.

Poppy’s estimated date of birth is 8/17/15. Her adoption fee of $115 includes her vet exam, FVRCP vaccinations, FIV & Feline Leukemia testing (neg), routine deworming, flea treatment, microchip and spay.
