My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Boy(3) is a majestic adult male Lhasa Apso (the 3 is just for our record keeping). He has a luxurious non-shedding cream coat with gray and tan markings and weighs 18 pounds. His owner said Little Boy is 5 years old so we guess he was born in 2012. Little Boy arrived at the Safehouse on 05/04/2017 along with six of his brothers and sisters. His owner was unable to care for so many dogs. He has lived a quiet sheltered life with many other doggy companions and is a bit reticent around people. But Little Boy wants to be petted and is eager for ear and butt rubs (NO HUGS!!); we can get in his face and he even gives little cautious kisses. However, if you are looking for a dog to pick up, cuddle and hug . . . LOOK ELSEWHERE!! That is not Lhasa Apso behavior. Little Boy is everything that makes the Lhasa Apso such a magnificent breed .... independent, intelligent, quiet, an excellent companion without being clingy or demanding, handsome, regal and stubborn. A little lost right now, change isn’t easy for a Lhasa, they like consistency, but he is gradually becoming more self-confident. Little Boy is housetrained to wee-wee pads and is doing very well in adjusting to “potty outside”. Having never worn a collar or harness, he does not know how to walk on leash but Lhasa are extremely bright so going for walks will be an easy training exercise for his new family. Little Boy was exceptionally well behaved for his initial grooming which was a bit painful and arduous. He gets along with other small dogs, after all he has lived with his many brothers and sisters all his life, and a home with another small companionable dog would be a bonus. More than likely, he would also do well with cats. He really is a loving dog, but Little Boy will be best in an adult's only home or one with children over the age of 10 years. He is a perfect pet for someone who wants a loving, quiet, intelligent and utterly devoted companion; a caregiver who will appreciate his Lhasa magnificence and understands the importance of obedience classes. Little Boy(3) is healthy, neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and he has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $200.
